If it turns out that your generator or regulator is bad, and you want to stay with that set up, I have a generator and regulator that came with a 63, 544 I bought about a year ago that was converted to an alternator. If interested, let me know and they are yours for the cost of shipping. I am in Eugene so if you are in the area you can pick them up. I don't know what condition they are in.
