Volvo 740 Mystery problem -- sputtering under load 700 1985

My 740 (1985 160K miles, auto, B230F) has the following symptoms:
Tack jumps around (300 rpm) when car under heavy load (going over a mtn pass). Car loses power and noticeable bucking. Fine on the descent down other side. No problems in regular fwy driving.

All the following have been replaced: distributor, fuel injection relay, ignition module, prepump, air mass meter, catalytic converter, spark plugs, spark wires. Wiring harness appears good. (Haven't checked/cleaned fuel injectors)

Ideas?
