Engine removal questions 900 1993

I have a replacement B230FT from a wrecked '93 945 ready to go in to the 944T whose engine I blew up. I have a few questions about removing the current engine:

1. Can you get the old engine out and the new one in without opening up the A/C system? It's R134a, but it was also working quite well before the engine issues and I'd rather not mess with it if I don't have to.
2. What do I have to do to separate the tranny from the engine itself? I took a look through the FAQ but couldn't find anything that documents that process well.
3. Any advice for a first timer?

Thanks!
Eric
