Hello Doug:

The 760's equipped with the B28F and B280F are "a breed apart" from the far more common B230F that most people here are familiar with. These v-6 equipped cars started out with a somewhat deserved poor reputation for reliability, a reputation that stuck in spite of the far better quality of the later B280F. The reason you don't get many responses is because not a lot of the people who post here know much about them! In fact, many dealerships don't know much about them anymore either-- they haven't been made for 14 years now.

That said, aside from the obvious mechanical differences inherent in the motors, these cars are very similar to the ones that people here do know a lot about-- similar (often the same) powertrain, suspension and electrical components. They have a lot in common with the 940s that followed them in terms of lighting and climate control.

I had an '89 760GLE that I liked quite a bit-- unfortunately I lost control on an icy road at 80km/h and hit a tree with it! The car wasn't worth fixing, but my wife and I and our baby were fine-- after a short search I found a '92 245 to replace it with. The 245 is far more utilitarian-- less power, cruder handling and less comfort and convenience. Parts are easier to find, though, and it is quite a bit easier on gas.

If you don't get an answer, ask again-- there are plenty of smart and knowledgable people here!

Good luck!
