Fuse puzzler 200

I wanted to relieve fuel pressure, so I pulled the fuel pump fuse (on the panel next to the driver's left leg) and started the car. It never stalled. I popped out the other fuse labeled for a fuel pump (tansfer? accumulator? I can't remember just now). Started the car; it never stalled. I took out *all* the fuses in the panel. Car started! Never stalled!

All the other functions were cut -- lights, radio, etc. But the ignition worked, the fuel still got to the inctor just fine.

Do I just not understand something?

(I relieved the pressure by just letting it run into a hose and into a gas container. I poured back in the tank. Smelly.)
