No Overdrive - '93 940 NA 900 1993

After living with a 3-speed for about 6 months, I finally put my used E-bay solenoid in hoping to have a 4-speed again. My reasoning for the solenoid being the culprit was the arrow indictor lighting when it should, relay clicking, 12 volts at the solenoid connector and no noise coming from the solenoid when overdrive button pushed on and off.

The overdrive stopped working quickly 6 months ago. It wasn't a drawn out process and it has not returned for an instant. Higher RPMs to shift and then no shift.

Put the used solenoid in with new o-rings, clicking strong, still no overdrive and no leaks at the solenoid. Disconnected the kickdown cable, no overdrive. Flushed with Dexron tonight and still no overdrive.

A few more things to try before I run the 3-speed into the ground (158K so far)...Remove solenoid and make sure fluid does flow through when energized. If there is flow, start the car for an instant hoping to blow a piece of crud out of a port. Last resort is a flush with synthetic.

Question: How long should the car run with solenoid off. Just start and then shut off immediately?
