Generator a Goner 444-544

I took off the voltage regulator cover. Man was it nice and shiny in there. There must have had Egyptians sealing those things up. The upper points were open and clean. There appeared to be a set of lower points too. These were closed but could easily be separated with finger force.

The generator was removed. Brushes looked good with at least 3/8" left above the holders. It was nasty dirty inside the genny. The accessible parts were cleaned. I didn't have a puller and so couldn't get the bearing off or pulley assembly.

After reassembly the generator still does not appear to be working. Voltage across the battery terminals remains steady regardless of engine speed.

I'm probably going to look into an alternator swap.

Best regards to all,

Joe Menacker
