need help quick with an altenater 200 1989

my altenater sezied a little wile ago i changed it and than i left for college i made it to school about 50 miles with now problem the car sat for a week than i went to drive it home started right up got me with in 1 mile of my house when i started to notice some weird things like lights were diming my radio cut out and i thought just great but it continued to do ok till about 100 feet from my house when it just quit i coasted the 100 feet and made it home i have no idea what is wrong. the oil warning light is the only one that comes on i checked all the wires i checked the cluster i have no idea what could be wrong. so i guess i need ether a wiring digram for a 1989 244 or just some things that might be causing sucha problem. i a,m at a total loss and advanced auto said that it wasnt their part through some test which the guy riunning it told me it isnt realy acurate any way so i am very frustrated and i got to be back to school tommorow so i am stuck any help would be greatly apreacheted
