You would probably also advise me to return my car to stock because it was just fine the way Volvo made it. You drive a stock car if you like. I enjoy modifying and tinkering and hotrodding the Volvos, even if problems arise that have to be solved along the way. I'll find an alternator that puts out more than about 15 amps at idle. The are made, and many cars with OEM electric fans have them for the same reason that I need one.
I am currently using the highest rated Zirgo 16 inch fan, at 3300 cfm, on a Howe 16 x 27 inch all alloy radiator with 2 one inch cores, a 71 C engine thermostat and an 82/87 C fan switch, Evans polypropylene glycol coolant, and zero pressure. The cooling system is for a 1994 B230FT fitted with Crower rods and Arias pistons and a worked head with Crane springs, Manley 45 mm stainless intake and 40 mm inconel exhaust valves, and an Enem 12.25 mm cam. The fuel injection is programmable, by Megasquirt. The ignition is currently stock EZK, modified with a Crane CD ignition with boost retard. The turbo is a ball bearing Garrett hybrid T3/T04E and the exhaust is 3 inches from the turbo. The intercooler is a Spearco with a 3.5 x 6 x 18 inch core. The AC uses a domestic hotrod 14 x 24 bar and plate style condenser for greater efficiency. Many other parts of the car are no longer stock, as well. It is my ongoing project.
