A transmission cooler is certainly a good idea if you can swing it.

I could consider synthetic transmission fluid a requirement in either case. It's heat that kills the fluid and then burnt fluid that kills the tranny. Synth will withstand all of this much better.

I have towed that much weight with a 240. You realize the car will be a slug. It will do it just fine, but will be a slug. You may also need to condsider some sort of suspension improvement like IPD overload coils.
