Welding the ball joint.

I was bolting on a new ball joint to my car and my damned torqe-wrench i bought brand new is crap, it never clicked when it should have so i snapped the damn bolt in two(new bolt bought from volvo rep).

I now have a very useless strut tower laying on my garage floor. So after trying to get the damn bolt loose i will have to try and cut my losses.

Would it work if i cleaned the steel like crasy, installed one of the bolts with proper torque and then got a professional welder to weld all around the joint. Rustprofing with paint and tar.

Would this work and hold over an extended period of time?

I could drill out the hole in the joint and thread the short hole in the strud tower for a long and a short bolt and then weld the sucker :)

What do you think? fast lane to a fiery death or some brick-TLC that might work?
