What's the most likely cause of a stiff shifter? It doesn't grind, it's just damn hard sometimes to put in first. What I do, while waiting at a light, for example, is shift into one of the higher gears and kinda work it back into first.
Where in the clutch peddle stroke should it be engaging. It's right at the top with this car ('89 245 5 speed) which I've had about a month. Haven't messed too much with the drive train yet.
