OK. as a refresher, this car died out shortly after starting one day while warm, and will not start again.
engine cranks, but no start.
this is what I did:
--replaced speed/crank sensor
--replaced Fuel pump relay
--replaced Radio supression relay
still the same thing. turns over and over, but doesn't start. someting that did happen, as i was trying to start, it got a sputter it seemed, very short, but seemed like some gas somewhere was ignited for a breif second.
the facts:
--engine gets spark. verified this by pulling a plug wire off a plug, hokking it to a spare and cranking... nice, bright strong spark.
--seems to be getting fuel. I can smell raw fuel in the exhaust when someone is cranking (i know, a looney-tunes moment waiting to happen!) also, i noticed wisps of vaporized fuel coming out of the manifold when i pulled the air hose off the throttle body to check it for operation.
so it seems like it's getting fuel and gas, the two things it needs, but it's like they are not coming together at the right time????
I know it isn't the timing belt, or the speed sensor (unless FCP sent me a bad one) or the FP or RS relays (unless, again, one was faulty from FCP)
other than that, I don't know what to do next other than hook it up to the Land Cruiser and tow it to Madison (60 miles) where the only trustworthy Volvo mechanics in this area are.
any help appreciated,
Fred
P.S.: please forgive me for my lack of proper capitalization and punctuation, i'm stuck having to use a laptop, and having to get used to this keyboard is too much trouble, so i just take the easy way out. (if you try not to use the shift key, you won't accidentally hit enter + delete and erase everything you just typed)
