No Start and no compression -740 Turbo - B200FT 700 1991

740 Turbo - B200FT

Just replaced the head gasket, fired first pop and it sounded good, went for an easy 20 mile drive. It died, no start, sounded like no compression, cheched that the cam was turning over and towed home. Thought the belt might have jumped but it had good tension. Re set up the belt, removed the crank gear A1, refitted all, no start, checked with a compression tester - no compression. (a) I was led to believe that they are a non interference engine so I'm stumped and (b)if there is valve damage I can't think how it happened.
It feels like head off again time!
