What did I do this time? 200

I have a 1983 244 GL Diesel 183,000 + miles with an electrical gremlin I have been chasing down for the last couple of months. Initially, the problem was a gradual drain, but alway ending up needing to recharge the battery before I could drive it again. New positive power cable and battery later same problem, no change.
I noticed the small wires off of the alternator and starter were in bad shape so yesterday, I replaced them all the way to the connector at the firewall along with four more leading to the sending units on the engine. (A total of 6 wires)
yellow/blue to starter, Red to alternator, yellow, green, black and blue/red to sending units.
Now, the entire system is a non charging one. Nothing works.
I think that the wires woke up a worse problem than I initially had. Any ideas?
