1993 240 wagon electric fan questions 200 1993

Greetings-
I went to start my 93 240 wagon this morning and found a dead battery... so I walked to the bus.
My wife had the car jumped and says it jumped right away, and ran fine, voltage gauge looks good, etc... Yesterday, I came out to a parking lot and found that my cooling fan was running- 2 hours after i parked it. The car started right away, so I didn't give it a second thought until this morning.

Here's my question: if the fan still works, thus the fan clutch is good, fan is not siezed, etc..., Am I right to look at the fan switch as the likely culprit? Is the switch on my '93 240 the one near the passenger side of my radiator?

The car has had some overheating tendencies lately, but only when stuck in DC traffic on hot (or warm) days. If I turn on the heat and blower, the temp drops almost immediately. Similarly, if I hit the highway befoe I redline, the temp returns to normal right away.

I plan to get on this thing after work tonight, so I'd love some advice! It's a looong walk to the bus!

Thanks,
Tom
