Stumped by starting issue 140-160

If the HIF is properly adjusted (lean side of stoichometric) then the choke is necessary for the initial start.

My thought would be a plugged port in the enrichment circuit from either kaka or degraded o-ring. Were the carbs completely torn down and cleaned when you did the choke mechanism?

Otherwise it may just be adjustment. Of either the running settings for the carbs or the choke mechanism or both.

Air leak is possible but less likely to seal as temp rises.

Check your ignition circuit thoroughly first as many "carb issues" seem to actually reside there!

Mike!
