Squeeze upper hose and water comes out of expansion tank cap 700 1987

My 760 has been losing a lot of coolant recently. I have to fill the expansion tank every couple of days. Sometimes after shutting off the car I'll see a little water escape from under the cap at the reservoir, but not as much as it is actually losing. Today I was under the hood checking the oil and I squeezed the upper radiator hose (engine cold). I could hear it make a sound all the way to the cap. I squeezed it harder and then water came out from under the cap (which was really tightened). I suppose now it's obvious that I need a new cap, but is there anything else I should be checking out, as far as losing so much coolant? Could it be just the cap? The car doesn't overheat or anything, but I didn't really expect this to occur just by squeezing the hose.
