B23F Timing Belt Change -- How to Keep Crank From Turning 200 1983

I've seen the postings and FAQs on the B230, but it's my understanding that after 85 these were fitted some sort of a different pulley on the crank than the earlier B23s like I have and that there's a special tool you use with them. I haven't changed the timing belt on my 83 with a B23F before, but before I start removing stuff, will I need to unbolt and remove the pulley where the belt goes around the crank and if so, how do you keep the crank from turning. I can't tell from reading these things whether the special tools they make only apply to the B230s with the bigger pulley.
