reprogramming Regina ECUs 700

Early this spring I got a chance to borrow a green manual on the "Regina Programmer" ordered by a fellow list member. Turns out it was very thin and only depicted what appeared to be a (proprietary) special tool for distributing code to the Regina ECU in the field. It looked like no EPROM burner I've ever used, but I believe it connected directly to the ECU's external plug, from which I infer serial download to non-volatile ram. But flash and nvram in the early 90's was a lot slower and smaller and expensiver, so it seems hard to swallow that I was looking at something capable of changing fuel maps and operating instructions.

The manual was of no value to me-- just had instructions specific to the tool and its connection. The tool looked like the kind of thing that would bring several thousand bucks to its vendor. Just my recollection of inexpert observations. It was six months ago. Jim, you know my crs is getting worse.
