B+ alternator and starter motor help please 200 1983

Hi!,
Today in the morning my volvo 240 turbo doesn't start, because the battery was discharged, when other car give charge to start I see some sparks on positive cable comming from the another car. I think there is a short and I use the procedure of the haynes manual using a probe light and when I connect the cable to the starter motor the light probe goes on I inspect the route to the starter motor and I seems ok, I see the diagram and I see B+ of the alternator comming from this cable too. Do you think I have a short between the starter motor and the alternator? Thanks by any advice.

Edwin
