This 240 has been to 3 machanics that specialise in Sweedish cars.
All 3 are now still consulting with me about what to do.
Here is the history:
We pulled the engine out on an unrelated manor and replaced it with
no work being done to it. (long story, not important involving a bad
clutch job)
at this point the car would start, but not idle and run full rich.
This is still the basic problem. However on 2 occasions for periods
of about 9 miles each the car has started ran and idled fine. this
happen for one machanic who said he wasn't sure exactly what he did
to solve the problem as he checked out several possibilities at once.
It did the same for me, but i don't know what i did either, nothing
significant for sure.
In the mean time this is what has been done:
replace wiring harness
" temp, switch
" idle control sensor
" vacume lines in poor condition
checked all vacume lines
" cold start injector
removed boot on throttle body and cleaned area
had it to 3 volvo shops
read the "Jetronic" book until madness took over
Here is one clue that has led me to several dead ends: When the top
vacume hose is removed from the idle control sensor the car revs to
about 2000 rpm stays there without the throttle being moved and runs
clean and good. by regulating with my thumb the air being sucked
into the vacume line i can contol the rpm and and mixture making it
idle fairly well. and yes i've tried 3 differant sensors.
What next?
ECM, throttle body again?? a high cliff?
Any help on this would be wonderful.
