740 fuel pump question 700

Hey Guys,

About 2 months ago, I replaced the fuel pump on my '89 740 GLE 16 valve. The old one just stopped working ( it was a used one that I put on about 2 weeks before it stopped from a 240). Wanting to save money, I bought a Master brand main pump at Advance Auto for $80. The car runs fine now, but I just wanted to ask around and see if anyone has had good luck with these cheaper pumps. The reason that I put the used 240 pump on the car is that the car wouldn't run when I bought it. After testing, I found that the main pump wasn't running. That, along with a bad ECU was the cause of the problem. So, my next question is will a bad ECU damage a fuel pump? Before I replaced the ECU, the car ran horribly and wouldn't run over 1500 rpm.

Any ideas would really help.

Dave
