1990 Head Gasket Failure; Front Main Seals changeout while at it? Yes or No? 700

Hi,

Well I got the head delivered to the machinist today. He said for $150.00 he will machine it flat, touch up the valves and seats (in surprisingly good condition). Repair broken exhaust stud at backside of #4. For another $60 he will repair this and bench adjust and shim valve train as necessary. All of it put back together with a Fel-Pro top end gasket kit. Do the valve stem buffers come with this kit? He said he would get it for me for a good deal. FOC Groton has everyone beat on prices. I live about 50 miles from there , the guy on the phone was really cool as I have a lot of parts to order. He told me to fax him what I needed and he would pick it and have it boxed up waiting for me. Service like this, internet pricing with a brick and mortar overhead; Fantastic!

The question is do I replace the front main seals while I am this far in the engine if they are not leaking a pass a visual? Your opinion counts! Thanks to all

Jerry (aka dirty hands honeycutt)
