No click, No start: KlausC, Lucid & Steve: Thanks and here is the outcome 900 1995

940 Non-turbo

Thanks guys for the responses. I've tried wriggling at the N but no crank either. I've tried to track the wire from the ignition switch but could not because it is all wrapped up and had a socket with many wires that I dare not venture further. Got a Haynes to follow the circuit but could decipher the details there.

Finally got the mechanic to replace the starter but never got a chance to drive long distance since I did not travel much this weekend. But starter has a distinctive metal knocking sound on each crank that my mechanic suspect it to be the flywheel. The question now is could it be the flywheel that caused the no click no start situation. My mechanic is adamant that the first starter is not the cause but only changed it because I insisted so.

There is no difference in the crank when cold and the metal knocking sound was there prior to the starter replacement, now that it is brought to my attention.

Based on your observations I am convinced now that it is not the starter fault but something else. If tracing the circuit remains the only options can someone tell me what I should look for and how to go about the test like voltage reading and where do I begin. Sorry to sound ignorant but I really have no idea at all about electrical and electronics.

Thanks
Laozong
