Help!! How do I bleed an ABS brake system 900 1996

I have the Motive Power Bleeder. I was reading about brakes in FAQ section and they said you may and should pump the brakes to get the rear brakes rock hard. With the power bleeder attached and under pressure, would it be OK to pump the brakes? I'm going to bleed them again and try pumping the brakes while the bleeder is open(with tube attached and immersed in a bottle of fluid). Hopefully that should stiffen up the pedal.
