spluttering under load 700 1986

Hello Thanks Anastasialk and KlausC for your suggestions I will certainly get the exhaust fixed now that I am back in England, I had a quote in France and it was 290 Euros to fix which I thought was expensive, and sounds as if from your post could be part or some of the problem. I have checked all vaccum hoses and they are ok.
My fuel filter was changed by myself when I bought the car 14 Months ago and is nice and clean and has no water in it.
What do you mean when you say that the fuel pick up hose may be on its last legs and how do you find it to check it?
My car had a manual choke conversion done when the new webber carburetter was fitted and when the choke is opened the revs increase so seems to be working. The distributor cap and all other items was replaced by a garage. Thanks James.
