940 speedo diagnosis 900

Hello fellow bricksters. I need help with the speedo on my 1991 940GLE Volvo. It appears dead. If I disconnect the speed sensor in the rear end the ABS light comes on, so I assume the speed sensor is working. What else can I check? There are two connection points behind the speed head I believe. One says "+" and "-" I think the other says "S+" and "S-" If memory serves. Can I check at any of these points for voltage? Thanks in advance for your help.
