Valvetrain noisy, put allow mani on and slight problems... 140-160

The valvetrain had been getting noisy over the past couple hundred miles(at 1005 now)... I'm going out to adjust them in a bit and then drive up to portland for some other tuning and stripping and stuff.

The compression was 165 180 180 180 before we took off the carbs and combined manifold.

We ran into the problem with differing thicknesses for the flanges, and we used some half washers left over from the Weber manifold that i was using, and then ground down two other areas with a grinder to make them match the intake. Now with it all bolted up and running, there's a definite exhaust leak. Last night when it was first started up you could hear it and you could see something smoking or burning off. It didn't really smell like the exhaust, so i'm assuming it was something burning off. The sound was there though, i'll retorque it when i go back out... We did use a little polisher type thing that's a little rougher than polish to clean up the mounting side(to the block). It's more complicated than that but i don't have time.

I'll talk again later tonight after i try and work some stuff out for tomorrow's events...
