stumbles - very rough idle 200

Two days ago my ‘91 wagon began to run very rough. When I drove it ~50 miles to school it ran a tad rough but OK – cruised at 80mph without a problem. That afternoon, I had a lot of trouble starting the car and when I finally got the car started it ran horrible for a few seconds and cut out. I was finally able to keep the car running by keeping my foot on the accelerator. It was a long drive home!

Yesterday I cleaned the throttle body and idle air valve. It ran much, much better, but still stumbled like it’s starved for fuel. Today topped off the tank and it runs better but still a slight hesitation.

There doesn’t appear to be a change in revs when I remove the FPR vacuum hose. And the car may run a little bit better with the AMM unplugged. Both the AMM and FPR are about 5 yrs old. All of the vacuum hoses and the plastic hose from AMM to throttle appear OK. I hear a whirring sound from the main fuel pump and from the gas tank, so I guess pre-pump working.

Also, during hot weather, the car is hard to restart. Like when I stop for gas; the check engine light comes on and the idle is very rough. I give it gas and the light goes out and idles OK.

Wire, plugs, dist cap, rotor are all about 2 years old.

Sorry for the long post – Thanks for the help!
