free spinning wheel stud issue 200 1986

I am attempting to remove and replace the rotors, pads, shocks, tabs, and coils on my 86 245, and am having a problem with two of the left rear wheel studs. One stud snapped in half and another is able to rotate freely in the hub plate when the nut is cranked. I have two questions:

1. How can I defeat this freely spinning stud? I have a light-duty oxy torch that I think would be capable of cutting the nut, but am afraid of 'heat treating' my good caliper, wheel bearing and rim. I thought of drilling out the stud, but don't know what kind of bit I would need.

2. How can I remove the studs from the hub once I solve the above problem? I have a 5-lb. hammer and was considering 'tapping' them out. Again though, I am afraid of damaging the wheel bearing by torquing it off its axis when I whack the stud. Bentley shows the use of a special press, which, of course, I don't have.

The night before I b'lasted everything, and was able to do the entire right side in under 2-1/2 hrs, then on the left side, I got stopped dead in my tracks and can't even get the tire off.
