is the radio antena supposed to telescope extend? 700

My radio antena on my 740 sedan goes up maybe alittle more than
a foot. The family's s90 looks similar to mine but goes up
3 times higher and telescopes out (ie from the base to the top,
the antena mast gets smaller). For years I just assumed that
was normal for my car to be short. But, yesterday I saw a 740
older than mine that telescoped and was quite high.

So I assumed that mine should do the same thing. With all my
might I tried to pull the mast out farther. It didnt work.
I also cleaned and oiled it well.


Does the 91' 740 sedan have a telescopeing antena?

If it does

Whats wrong with mine?
