80 245-> 78 242?

Shouldn't be any issues with this. They're both B21's and I thought everything through 1981 was the same version of K-Jet injection. The boxes ought to be compatible, if not identical. Possibly dirt in the fuel distributor or even in the injectors? They can swap the injectors and see if the results are the same.
ALso, could have a bad (ignition) distributor - I don't know off hand if those two years have the same distributor or not but at the least, inspect that little wiring harness coming from it. Is the coil giving steady sparks as the engine turns? And did they time it correctly when they changed the timing belt? Can they or you verify the timing marks?

Good luck!
