Warning tone constantly on 700 1986

Driving a 740 GLE automatic. Hit a slight bump and suddenly the entire radio went off--completely!
No digital readout of any sort. Just blank. At the same time, the binging sound that lets you know you've left your keys in the car or lights on starts up. Shut the car off and just inserting the key into the ignition activates the alarm sound. Car runs fine otherwise. Pulled the box out to look at the fuses and sure enough #5 is blown; not only that but every time I insert another fuse into that slot it pops as well.
I know there's a short somewhere but any suggestions on where I should start to look.

Thanks in advance,
Chet
