My 760 has the delay as well. It drives me absolutely nuts. I have to wait to see if I've turned the light off or not. The delay only works when you open the driver's door. No idea if it's self contained or not, but I've got a spare ECC style beige dome light for sale ($20+shipping). The clips are intact and it should fit any 700/900 series car.
