A/C question.. 94 940 T 900 1994

My a/c was not cold last summer so I took to to my regular indy and it was look on freon ( the new stuff). Anyway, it was working well untill this week when sometimes it will blow cold air and sometimes none but it's not blowing hot air either. Can anybody help me diagnose this problem?? As I was driving to work today, the first 10 minutes the a/c was not working but I just kept in on anyway then half way to work it started blowing cold air again..hmmm..
