1986 starter will it work on a 1990 245 ? 200 1990

I plan to cannibalize my 1986 245 to keep the 1990 going. I have had occasionnal starting problems with the starter of my 1990 and can get one from my 1986 but in some parts catalogue it looks as if the 1990 is equipped with a more powerful starter . Despite that are they interchangeable? If not, would a starter from a 740 of the same vintage do? 240s are getting harder to find in scrapyards than the 740s in my neck of the woods
