radiator opening piece broke off--do i need new? 700 1990

a few days ago while driving my 760 turbo my engine overheated. i noticed the upper radiator hose had come off of the radiator. upon closer inspection i noticed a piece of the radiator opening, to which the hose is clamped, had broken off and that's why my hose had come loose. as a temporary fix, i put the hose back with it clamped close to the base of the radiator.
i was able to refill the radiator and drive 15 miles home without further problems.
my volvo has the nissen-built radiator which is plastic/aluminum. the piece that broke off is plastic, and therefore, cannot be welded on...
i'm not sure exactly how much of the radiator opening broke off, but currently the hose is gripped to about 1 inch of the radiator. is this safe enough? do i have to replace the radiator?

i would appreciate any advice. thanks
