A/c problems 900 1994

Good afternoon,

I'm having some a/c problems with my 94 940 turbo. Four months ago the a/c went out, so I soldered the relay on the control board. It worked again all summer except while on a trip it would freeze up. I would have to turn the a/c off for a few mins and let it warm up, then all would be OK for anouther 20-30 mins.

A couple of weeks ago the a/c quit again. I pulled control board back out. It was fine. I traced the problem to the low pressure switch on the accumulator. I got new switch. Now the compressor clutch cut in and out rapidly. I verified that it is the new low side switch cycling the compressor rapidly between 20 and 35 psi. Off at 20 and on at 35.

Am I just low on refrigerant? What low side pressure should this system be at on an 80 deg day?

Thanks
