Derek:

No need to apologize. You were dead on in analysing my 122 key breakage problem and I appreciate your assistance. Once we found a good locksmith who made a key that turns when fully inserted, the ignition assembly works as expected.

The replacment tank was purchased from a trusted source but "refurbished" by an unknown party. The exterior of the refurbished tank has a black "tarry" coating. I don't know what, if anything was done to the interior.

The replacement tank has been in the car for a few months. The stumbling problem showed up at least six weeks after the tank was installed. The car was driven about 3000 miles during that six week interim between tank install and clogged filters. The car was performing excellently before the stumbling suddenly started on hard accelleration on a steep incline.
