ABS light on my '92 not illuminating at start-up--should it? 200

Oh yes, it should come on, stay on for a rew seconds after start, then go off.
See if the bulb has fallen out (or been removed) from the dash. Replace it using one of the other bulbs. The little holders just turn a quarter turn and pull out. IF you can see some light it's possible it fell out, but it's equally likely that it was pulled out by a mechanic or dealer who didn't want to deal with it.
If you replace it, and find that it's on, you do not have functioning anti-lock. The brakes will work as normal brakes but no anti-lock function. Get it checked out if this is the case.
I came across a system in a 93 240 where the light wouldn't go off- after replacing the control unit, trying a new airbag, and even replacing the instrument cluster, the light was still on. Turned out the car sat for a few months- mice chewed on the wiring harness under the LF strut tower. Inspect for any sort of damage to the harnesses along the left side if the light won't go out.

Good luck!
