Cold start inquisition 200

Ok I read about all the archived posts on this subject but need a conclusion if I may..1989 244 manual tranny. Checked most of the common problems, had been tuned up recently. So when I go to start it in the morings it will kick back and make the starter disengage and has once made the starter spin(without being engaged) for about 3 minutes or so..Anyway it will not start until you try it several times as in about 4 to 5. During starting, as I said, it kicks back. After it does start it runs fine, no bad idle or missing at any speed. And to beat it all the wife's 89 244 is starting to miss at idle..Great I need another hobby...
