Getting a car ready for an engine transplant... 200 1976

So, I've finally freed up enough time to start working on my none running '76 245 with a M-46.



There it is, in my back yard (where most of the work is probably going to be done.)

I have a "new" short block out of a '82 that is sitting in the back of the car, that I'll probably need to clean before I drop it in. How should I go about doing that? (There is no head, intake/exhaust manifold on the short block.) The short block sat in a garage for a while and collected quite a bit of dirt.

I'm going to need to transplant the head and manifolds from the blown '76 on to the good '82 engine. Is this a straight bolt on? The head on the '76 looks different from other B-21 heads I've seen.

I'm also going to need to use the distributor off of the '76 (since I did some serious damage to the dist. on the '82 engine). What's involved in this? My only worry is about swapping the Bosch ignition from the '76 into the '82 which had the white cap Chrysler ignition.

Is there a preferred method of emptying out the gas tank? The gas that is in there is probably about a year old.

Does someone have any pictures of where I should attach the hooks for yanking the engine out of the car?
