SRS light problem 700

Hello-

I have an 88 744turbo. While working on it about 6 months ago I was pounding around with a hammer in the area normally covered by the driver's seat. Alas, when I put everything back together the only glitch in my work was a SRS light in the dash that stays on. How does you reset the light and why is it on? Will the airbag still deply in case of an accident? I read the FAQ's about being careful when working around this area, however, I read this pertinent information afterwards of course.
