Oil light 700

Someone help please. I have a 1990 turbo 740. My oil light starts to flicker on and off whenever the idle drops under 600 rpm. So I figured all I have to do is raise the idle and the problem would go away. I tried raising the idle but as everyone knows the computer decides where the idle should be. If anything by me trying to adjust the idle has made things worse cause the car at cold start-up idles all over the place. The motor was rebuilt less than 10,000 miles ago so I don't think it's the oil pump.(It might be) Can someone just give me some troubleshooting advice?

Thanks Pat
