Will a 1986 240 cruise control kit work in a '92? 200 1992

I purchased an unused/in box 240 cruise control kit dated 1986 for my 245 several months ago on a whim (before I knew what I should be looking for or knew anything about my car). In my haste to purchase it for a good price, I foolishly failed to check its potential compatibility with my '92. I now know that Volvo manufactured two kits; one from '86-89 and another from 90-93.

So should I plan to put the '86 kit up on e-bay, or is there a chance that it will work in my '92? Is anyone successfully running a pre '90 kit in their post 1990 240?

Thanks for your help!
