First: There are NO differences or rather, NO problems in switching parts between year-models regarding a '65 or a '69-model.
You could, if you wanna, have old '65-style assemply (wishbone, balljoints etc.) on left side and '69-style on right side if you would!
You can do as you please! - But I would recommend to keep upper balljoint same year, wishbone same year, lower ball joint same year and so on, if you get my point..
Depending on HOW you do it, I would start from "zero" with the shims. The front axel in complete was mounted on the car and adjusted to that perticullar car.
Start with zero, and then build up from there..
Their might be differences just because you have taken everything apart and reassempled it again - and if you blaster, paint and so, the tolerences are changed..
For your help:
Caster: 0 - +1 degree
Camber: 0 - +1/2 degree
Toe-in: 0 - 4 mm.
When outer wheel is turned 20 degrees, innerwheel has to be btween 21,5 to 23,5 degreees..
Adccording to Volvo specifications...
Another thing: Besides the matter of "self-lubricated-forever" new type of balljoints, there was a change in '65 actually:
The upper wishbone and balljoint changed from August 1965: The wishbone with a little hole for the balljoint to a bigger hole to the newer type balljoint with "self-lubrication"
So check what you have - '65 is a year of changes!..
