760T- Engine Temperature Hotter after waterpump repair 700

I recently replaced my water pump with a volvo pump and my car seems to be running a little hotter than before - I replaced the coolant at the time with some generic green coolant - since there was no option given where I lived and the fact I was doing the repair in a pinch.

My temp gauge reads a little past half way now and before it fluctuated between half and 1/4.

In general I am wondering what the correct water temp. is for b230FT with a turbo and how can one check it at the engine?

I also have the turbo water cooling kit upgrade that dumps more heat into the water system.

Thanks for any advice.
