rear diff leak 200 1989

240 '89 sedan 287K kilometers (180?K miles)
excellent well maintained, 90% highway driving.

Hi ALL,

Noticed a few small pindrops of dark colour heavyweight fluid on the garage floor around the diff area.

Probably a slow accumulation though, maybe a drop per week.

Anyhow, I have no desire to see the diff run dry, so where is the most likely place that the leak can form? Assume maybe a seal at the drveshaft flange as it enters the diff housing? Never taken apart a diff... I did the tranny tailshaft bushing/seal last year and assume this might be similar but in the back.
If so, how long to replace, and what's the work like?

Any advice please would be great, thanks.
