Heater blower S90-V90

I'm getting a faint smell of burning wire when I cut my blower motor up high,is there a compatability with chevy blower motor that I could use and save money over Volvo motor? I'm also wondering if there is a way that I can change the little light behind my outside temp gauge in the bottom left of my instrment panel without haveing to pull the panel itself?
